I purchased this camera to return my Finepix S5100. Persuasion you, there was nothing improper with my 5 year old S5100. I barely felt the essential for something newer. The S5100 was a 4MP camera - the S1000FD is 10MP. I loved my S5100 and it did rectitude by me for years, so I stuck with Fuji. It’s still in the dearest…I gave it to my daughter and she’s using it now. (Still ticking after 5 years!) I am not a adept photographer, I equitable like to take pictures and I don’t differentiate a lot about directions settings and such. All I be familiar with is, I keep the camera on Car and 99% of my pictures go out ameliorate. The camera does have physiognomy finder technology and for the most part, I don’t have to fix red eye manually anymore. The kind LCD separate out is outstanding. Battery-operated handling is rational. (Instal in rechargeables! Retain a expectations in batteries!) The zoom is moderate, but the true check will be from my seats at Yankee Amphitheatre! I’ll update on this one later on. The S1000FD also accepts both SD and XD cards. I am competent to use the 1Gb and 2Gb cards from my S5100. I purchased 4Gb SD cards for my Imaginative Zen and can use them with the S1000FD as well. I don’t have issues with searching-ups upcoming out hazy as some have complained about. The camera is a move up from the characteristic heart and dart cameras and a track (or two) below the high-priced SLR’s. It’s much lighter than the S5100 and smaller. Thwart out the pics I posted which were entranced with the camera. I don’t expect you’ll be disheartened in this camera if you get it. See less »
