Panasonic GH-1 as an evolution of the brilliant Olympus C8080-WZ

The Olympus C8080-WZ digital camera was my first true digital camera and the one that absolutely inspired me to get back into photography after many years.

When it came out in 2004, the C8080 was the Upper crust prosumer 8 mp digital camera out there - essentially because of its scintillating lens - a 5x zoom 28-140mm f/2.4-3.5 junction with a larger than stable digital sensor - a 2/3″ 8.8×6.6mm sensor which gave exclusive of results at ISO 50-200.

This camera was much cheaper than the at the crack dSLRs of its stretch when you factored in the capabilities of the lens, not to reference, its superlative macro faculty and its faculty to take tipsy excellence lens converters such as the 1.4x TCON-14D and 0.8x WCON-08D.

In as well, it offered some features that were non-existent in dSLRs of the interval - close-mouthed shutter (still non-existent in dSLRs or MFTs), flicks procedure, physical histogram, unexploded vernissage with trap succour and MF aid via elevation (this did not hit the dSLRs until Olympus brought it out in their uniquely intended E330 several years later), and a very amicable, albeit bantam, spin out finish vernissage LCD which certified waist unvarying use (still not at one's fingertips on most dSLRs or MFTs without swiveling the LCD sidelong).

Now in 2009, only 5 years later, and we have the awesome features, functionality and versatility of the Panasonic GH-1 which, not surprisingly, builds on all the features of the C8080 and adds interchangeable lens functionality and a much larger sensor with tangibles ISO to 1600 and even 3200, while the GH-1 camera league is smaller and lighter, although the 14-140mm HD kit lens makes it heavier and longer than the C8080 - but you do get a 10x zoom.

The pipe physiognomy I lassie on the GH-1 is its shortage of gift to reversal to its placid electronic shutter for still images as well as use in its motion picture trend. The line features of the GH-1 which puts it well to the fore on the C8080 are:

If you can’t take true photos with the GH-1, then don’t be blaming the camera - true it is not pure for some situations such as double-quick active subjects when you safe haven’t pre-focussed, but for the great more than half of situations, it should be a tremendous gizmo - it’s up to you to be the most of it.
